Many parents and carers of children with invisible disabilities struggle to navigate the complex and often opaque pathways of SEND services in Lambeth, and they often feel isolated, frustrated and helpless watching their children fail at school and become angry, anxious and despondent.
ARCS was founded by parents from the ADHD Parent Support Group, who decided that we were going to make our voices heard. We wanted more say on what services we needed, how we wanted them and how the services could support us better.
ARCS recognises that services are under tremendous pressure and that, although we have the same goals, we often struggle to understand and work together through lack of understanding and poor communication.
ARCS believes that parents and carers, young people and professionals can work together to find effective, efficient and lasting solutions together in partnership.
We are a small charity, founded by parents of children with ADHD, and supported by local professionals.
Our mission is to engage, equip and enlighten Lambeth parents, children and young people affected by ADHD and other neurological conditions.
Currently we are working on:
Running training days for professionals including schools, youth workers and the police
Discussing future parent support services with Lambeth commissioners
Producing information for families
Exploring an offer for young people
